Dear Sir:

.fac
Recent publications by our staff include three articles on chemical inference
[1, 3, 6] and two on medical applications [4, 5]. Colby has published a book on
artificial paranoia [2], based on research supported by the National Institutes
of Health.

Five articles on natural language understanding have appeared [7-11] and
we have published reports on robotics [12], an assembly program [13], philosophy
and artificial intelligence [15], and a summary of our earlier research [14].

.lb Research Program and Plan

No changes.

.lb Major Accomplishments

Nothing new.

.lb Problems Encountered

In our work on timesharing system development, we have been unable to obtain
either the current version of Tenex from BBN or the experimental VIROS
monitor from DEC. This has effectively prevented us from commencing the
conversion of our system to exploit the BBN pager that was installed recently
on our computer.

.lb Fiscal Status

.lb Action Required by the Government

None.

.lb Future Plans
